Welcome, welcome.

Hello All, and welcome to my newest blog! My name is Danielle, and I am a professional writer from Los Angeles, California. This blog is my third, and my newest project that I am extremely excited about.

The purpose of this blog is to share my recipes and wellness tips.

In the last four months, I've lost almost 17 pounds, and completely transformed the way I feel about myself. For me, the journey is not about weight, but about wellness and health. I've been "skinny" and "curvy" my whole life, but that means nothing.

A little background about why I started life as an non-deprived health nut: September 2012, I was trying on clothing in a Nordstrom's dressing room. I realized my regular size was not fitting right. I started thinking back through the year, and it dawned on me that a lot of the clothing I'd donated to the GoodWill had suddenly (or maybe gradually) become too small for me. Then there was the issue of the scale, which read a number that was too high for my 5'5" frame.

Me!
It stems further than that, however. I grew up in a family obsessed with heart health because we had to be. My father had his first massive heart attack when he was 29, a few years before I was born. As a result, we ate very well. There was also an unsaid, underlying fear that I might develop the same heart problems. So to me, letting my body go meant that my heart was working harder. That made me want to work harder.

Through my trials, errors, and successes these past four months, I've come up with recipes that are realistic, filling, and yummy. I have realized that weight loss and wellness are not about deprivation. They are about modification and compromise.

For the record, I am not a Dietitian, nutritionist or certified wellness expert. I am just a normal woman who's learned to make health and wellness flavorful and fun!

My exercises of choice are Jazzercise and Vinyasa Yoga. I work out five to six times a week.

My food of choice is...everything! Stay tuned and try my recipes. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Happy reading, happy eating, and thank you for checking out my blog!

Comparison pictures: Exactly 4 months apart. I'm no fitness model, but progress rules!
